Warning…Conscious Pricking!

2 Jul

“The power of willful ignorance cannot be overstated.”

As soon as I heard these words spoken, it was as if I got hit by a two by four. Clarity was undeniable.

Willful ignorance is damaging and empowers the mean!

It explains and defines so much in our society (Wars, Islamic Extremists. Bullies, Environmental Damage, Child-Abuse, Elderly-Abuse, Bigotry, Guns, Political-Abuse, Angry-People, etc…)

We all go about our day in a state of pretending with more excuses than Jiffy has peanut butter…

…it is none of our business

…it doesn’t involve me

…I don’t have time

…I can’t make a difference

…It doesn’t matter

…I hate to make waves

…I don’t want to get involved

How many times have you heard these songs play in your head? Does the melody comfort you?

It takes a tremendous amount of inner strength to stop numbing ourselves into willful ignorance.

Maybe for just one day… Just One Day……

We can CHANGE…

We can step outside our comfort zone and be BRAVE…

…To willful acts of strength in KINDNESS (to speak up, to take action) and do the right thing!

…To make a positive difference in someone’s life!

Today, you decide!

What Ever I Want, What Ever You Want!

2 Jan
Dear Readers,

Good morning!

We are several hours into the New Year and I have been reading well wishes from friends for 2013…

Happy New Year! Wishing you lots of love and fun … and some peace in 2013! xxoo

Happy New Year! Wishing you all the best 2013 can bring

See you in 2013!

Happy Happy New Year!! xo
Wishing all of you lots of love and peace this New Year!

AND it hit me, the fireworks went off in my head (finally)…it is all possible.. 2013 can be exactly what I want, it can be exactly what you want…peace, love, fun, all the best. It doesn’t have to be left up to chance or just a pie in the sky dream.

Let me back-up for a little bit..

Everything and anything worth having takes hard work! (Everyday I see people applying this philosophy in the gym)
It’s all possible (yes) not because of what the world/family/friends/strangers are finally doing or finally not doing… it is what YOU are finally doing and not doing (Lindseth is right).

To quote Troy from aslongasimsinging.wordpress.com…”I chose the playlist in my head.” Yes, you are the one who choses what plays between your ears!

I love putting great ideas and thoughts into tangible action. So with that said, below are four steps to live the life you so desire, the life your friends and family want for you… love, peace and happiness!

Now lets skip straight to the starting line, because right now is always a great time to begin!

Action Plan:

1 – Everyday say the mantra…NO ONE OWES ME ANYTHING! In fact say it three times a day!

2 – Everyday say three things you are appreciative of

3 – Everyday say “I forgive (fill in the blank)” Does not matter if that person has asked for your forgiveness or even wants it….just give it…

4 – Everyday say “I surrender all my concerns to God!”

If you really work these four steps (hard) your desired 2013 will happen…

Asklotta and staff will MIND YOUR BUSINESS today working my action/happiness plan!

Again, it has been my pleasure to tell you what to do and what NOT to do!

Kindest regards,

This will Be Short and To The Point…

21 Aug
Dear Readers,

This is going to be short and to the point….

I am not a religious person but I am very spiritual, if that makes any sense? I truly believe in the power of prayer and especially in the power of collective prayer.

My dear, dear friend’s 23 year old son is going through a rough and terribly unfair time right now. Sam (and his family) have been courageously battling cancer for the second time in Sam’s short life. First time when Sam was in High School and now the second time one week before he was to start his first job out of college.

Fast forward…

…It has now been about two weeks since the bone marrow transplant and all was going great until this past weekend. Sam has recently come up against another terribly unfair situation/complication.

I am reaching out to my family, friends (old and new), e-friends, acquaintances, loyal readers, occasional readers, first time readers, believers and non-believers and all those in between. I am asking, I am pleading for your prayers today for Sam, for Sam’s recovery! I don’t care what God you believe in, I don’t care if you even believe in a God, maybe you could click her heels three times with a positive thought for Sam’s recovery. Fay Moore: I Want To Be A Writer started praying yesterday for Sam…thank you again Fay!

Please know Sam and his family are truly worthy and so deserving of every prayer and every positive thought you have to send their way. Their love, energy and commitment to each other, their family and their family of friends is second to none.

Please, please, please take a moment today to pray and/or wish for a fast and full recovery for Sam!

Asklotta and staff is MINDING YOUR BUSINESS today completely believing in the power of prayer for Sam’s full recovery!

Again, it has been my pleasure to tell you what to do and what NOT to do!

Kindest regards,

“Families Come In All Sizes And Shapes”

6 Aug
Dear Readers,

Please read this letter to the Edit regarding Penn State’s punishments titled “Penn State penalties punish the innocent.”

“I am writing to express my outrage at the actions taken by Mark Emmert of the NCAA against the Penn State community. This is an example of what happens when too much power is given to any one individual.
While Jerry Sandusky’s actions were horrific and inexcusable, the athletes who accomplished all the victories (many hard-fought ones) during that time do not deserve to have any of them vacated because of something they knew nothing about and did not take part in. No player rules were broken. Why has this leader not also vacated the Penn State losses during this time period? I am an Ohioan and an Ohio State fan, so there is no connection for me here, and I hope OSU will not accept these “victories” from Penn State.
It seems that every new scandal results in escalated penalties for some reason. The NCAA needs to take action immediately restore these wins and cut back the power of Emmert.”
Thomas W. Billing, Springfield

Well Thomas I am not the editor but I will respond to your incredibly stupid and self-absorbed letter.

The children were being molested at Penn State. Joe Paterno aka, “Papajoe” (ironic don’t you think?) had well known about the awful crimes going on for years and he did NOTHING. Let me take that back, he actually promoted and helped Sandusky carry out his horrible sexual acts on innocent vulnerable children by doing NOTHING.  Joe Paterno was more concerned about protecting his dear friend and his dear football program then he was about innocent helpless vulnerable children.

“The most powerful men at Penn State Failed to take any steps for 14 years to protect the children who Sandusky victimized.” -Louis Freeh

Freeh goes on to report,

“He blamed Paterno, former Penn State President Graham Spanier and administrators Gary Schultz and Tim Curley for having “never demonstrated … any concern for the safety and well-being of Sandusky’s victims until after Sandusky’s arrest,” while the board of trustees failed to perform its oversight duties.
That collective failure “to protect against a child sexual predator harming children” lasted “more than a decade” and allowed Sandusky to further harm his victims, the full report says.”

” The figures once in charge – president Graham Spanier, senior vice president Gary Schultz and athletic director Tim Curley – are all gone, with the last two awaiting trial, while Paterno died in January at age 84.”….”Still, no number of docked scholarships, missed bowl trips or cash payments will counterbalance the enabling of a serial rapist of children.” -Alexander Wolff -Sports Illustrated, July 30

For me, it is my belief and position if the football players had any sense of moral decency they would transfer to another college ASAP! AND donors would hold back their donations for a few years giving Penn State time to reflect, to prove it trustworthy for the safety of all children and they can police and call the police on their own. That no one and especially a college football program are NOT above the law and  welfare of innocent children. And no one should every forget that!

So Thomas W. Billing, Springfield – people are people because of other people. I raised my children as I was raised; with the strict understanding as a family we are all connected, what you do is a reflection of us all. Whether or not you view Penn State as a family, it is and the actions and decisions of a few top people became a dark and sad reflection on the whole Penn State family which now everyone must suffer the consequences.

Thomas, your frustration and anger should be redirect to Spanier, Schultz, Curley, Paterno and especially at Sandusky. Extreme sympathy to all those children (now adults) whose childhood was forever taken by a pedophile and by an elite group of very wealthy and selfish team of men that knew better but instead enabled a child predator to destroy the lives of so many children for years for 14 years!

Asklotta and Staff is MINDING YOUR BUSINESS today in hopes that you all take the time to mind someone’s business if you think for one second a child is in danger!

Again, it has been my pleasure to tell you what to do and what NOT to do!

“You Go Girl”

12 Apr

Dear Readers,

The cover of Time Magazine (March 26, 2012), “The Richer Sex”…”Women are overtaking men as America’s breadwinners. Why that’s good for everyone.” The article begins, “Women, Money and Power…As female economic clout grows, it is changing how men and women work, play, shop, share, court and even love each other.” by Liza Mundy

Ms. Mundy has done a wonderful job of exploring the changing male/female roles in today’s society, and reports some interesting statistics concerning American households.  The first part of the article tells the story of Gary Hawkins; He and his wife raise the traditional American family in Michigan, he was the sole breadwinner, supported six children and a wife and now only one of his children (a son) is living the traditional life in which he was raised….”five households supported by women.” It seems in these families everyone loves their untraditional roles and in fact Hawkins’ sons and daughters seem to be flourishing in the uncharted redistribution of work, income and household duties/roles.

But not all men and women adjust seamlessly into these new roles.  Many men and women are struggling to find their identities and are confused in how to deal with a whole new set of gender issues than the previous generations dealt with. One woman who’s the breadwinner in her family says, “I have friends where it’s the man who’s earning more money, and the woman says to me, ‘He gets really upset when I want to redecorate the kitchen,’ and I’m supposed to be very sympathetic to the woman because I’m a woman,” she says. “But I also understand the husband’s point of view much better than I would like to, I understand the feeling that ‘I’ve earned it.”

Ms. Mundy sites different examples of how women go to great lengths to hide their success and financial stability while simultaneously shower over the top adoration and appreciation for their spouses/boyfriends’ contributions that were once thought of as hobbies. Ms Mundy says “…these women may be trying harder than they need to. There is strong evidence that earnings make a woman more, not less, desirable as a partner.”

But maybe these women’s appreciation is not over the top, maybe they are exercising more emotional intelligence then their counter parts!
Women have seen both sides, both view points and we’ve all heard the saying “when you walk a mile in their shoes,” or heels in this case,  a more insightful clarity and understanding can come from the view of a great pair of heels! Meaning: women are more empathetic and appreciative to what it takes to make a household run smoothly as well as, the under pinning of a great relationship…The emotional respect needed to ensure a wonderful relationship for both contributing partners and therefore remain adoring and appreciative!

It will be very interesting how the landscape of America will change and how we all will move forward….Now that women are taking over as the major breadwinners, what else will change?…What domino effect will happen?…. Will laws change?… Will men raise their sons to be “stay at home” fathers and will they prepare and raise their daughters to take on the role as the family’s main financial support system? It appears the latter has already begun! Will couples move towards a more harmonious balance, recognizing that it doesn’t matter who earns the money, or who cleans the house, or who cares for the children? Or will we throw the baby out with the bath water …..Will it be too difficult for the majority of men to be happy as the financially subservient partner? Will the power and inner peace that comes along with financial independence make women feel that they don’t need to depend on or be dependent on- a man? Will marriages be just a thing of the past?

Only time will tell….

Asklotta and staff never missing an opportunity to MIND YOUR BUSINESS, recognizes the more empowered women become, the happier and safer they and their children become….benifiting not only them, but men and our nation! So let me say this, “you’ve come a long way baby” this has been a long time coming. “Strong is what happens, when you run out of weak” and I say …”You Go Girl”  you deserve it!!!

Again, it has been my pleasure to tell you what to do and what NOT to do!

Kindest regards,
