The Other Woman!

7 Feb

My husband is up in our bedroom laughing with an another woman….Under normal circumstances I would not have a smile on my face but these past two weeks life has been anything but normal.

Two weeks ago today my husband had a total hip replacement (his second) and his recovery has been nothing short of amazing! I’m truly so appreciative.

BUT, that is not my story today….

…The other woman, is his physical therapist is my story.

Her name is Stephanie and this woman truly loves what she does…And it shows!

She comes into our house all smiles filled with joy, looking forward to engaging in our lives! She giggles as the dogs jump up on her, remembering their names from her last visit.  Enthusiastic and ready to begin, getting my husband stronger and more capable of regaining his normal routine….Stephanie does not whine about the cold (-1) or any discomforts of her own, which I’m sure she could if she so chooses. She only brings happiness and joy into our house and into our lives. The house lights up and our spirits warm to her kindness.

AND…

What I really find amazing, Stephanie has been a physical therapist for 30 years and has the enthusiasm of someone just beginning their career!

How does that happen? I believe like everything else in our life regarding happiness…It is (as always) a choice!

WOW is all I can say….I love the other woman!

“The Holy Spirit Is In My Pocket”

26 Jan

“Does anyone want the Holy Spirit because it’s in my pocket” I hear from the backseat….

What?

“I have the Holy Spirit in my pocket, does anyone want it?”

I turn my head back to look at my three grown children in the backseat of our car as we are pulling out of the Church’s parking lot.

and SHE

…pulls out the communion host (wafer) from her front pocket.

Her brother yells…”I can’t believe it, I can’t believe it”…”What are you crazy?” “Why didn’t you just put it in your mouth? I’ve never known anyone to do this…This is sacrilegist!”

SHE says…

…”Welll it’s flu season and the priest had it in his hands and I didn’t want to get sick.

Trying so hard not to laugh at everyone and everything in the backseat while at the exact same time trying really hard not to offend God on Christmas Eve…I reach back extending my hand to accept the backseat communion offering and place it respectfully in my mouth.

….AND after days of smiling and a lot of laughter well into January, it occurred to me, SHE did have the Holy Spirit in her pocket!

Thanksgiving for all answered prayers!

So Many Opportunities…So Little Time!

20 Dec

“Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. “-Francis Pharcellus Church (The Sun, 1897)

I believe…Christmas is an opportunity to be kinder!

I believe…Christmas is an opportunity to give more love!

I believe…Christmas is an opportunity to create healthy boundaries for yourself!

I believe…Christmas is an opportunity to be far more appreciative!

I believe…Christmas is an opportunity to be more humble!

I believe…If you take advantage of all your opportunities…

…Santa will bring you; sweetness, joy, love, peace, and happiness!

“Ego says, ‘Once everything falls into place, I’ll find peace.’ Spirit says ‘Find your peace, and then everything will fall into place.”
– Marianne Williamson

…Who will you listen to this holiday season, Ego or Spirit?

Monday’s Quick Addition!

5 Aug

Hi all,

It’s the first Monday in August and life is terrific! Why terrific you wonder?

1) No one I’m related to has been arrested

2) The plumbing in my house is still working

3) Thing 1 and Thing 2 had the most wonderful time celebrating Thing 2’s fourth birthday in their back-yard with lots of friends, family, love and a huge ice cream truck!

4) Still plenty of summer left to enjoy with friends and family!

5) Realizing all my prayers have been answered….time to rejoice and dance!…Thanksgiving for prayers answered!!!!

I truly am the kind of person that is grateful and appreciative for everything I have and not miserable for what I don’t have…My brilliant and beautiful Mother taught me that along with “surround yourself with friends that are filled with appreciation”… My Mother gave me the most wonderful gift; the gift of happiness for the rest of my life….And YES I did have a wonderful, loving and brilliant Mother in the world, just in case you were wondering!

Sooooo…..

If you need a little help “scooping” out some happiness today, here’s a little Math Equation that might bring an “answer.”

…If A  is to B, then what is C?

Image

C = Coffee, Coffee Buzz, Buzz, Buzz!

If your summer math is not adding up to something delicious and fun, try changing the equation until the logic makes you smile!

Monday’s Colorfull Idea!

29 Jul

Hi there…Sorry for the late posting! Just arrived home from the most wonderful 24 hours at a wedding at Lake Canandaigue (Naples, NY)

So without further delay…

My silent investor and I love watching the Tour de France together.  And once again I found myself wondering (forgetting) what the different colored shirts represented that are awarded to individual cyclist. I knew the yellow jersey was for best overall winner but that adorable white with red polka dots got me scratching my head. So of course I consulted with my best friend “google” who set me straight as you will read below. But that is not what this post is about….

“Understanding those colored jerseys”

“The yellow jersey represents the race leader.
The green jersey represents the race’s best sprinter.
The polka dot jersey designates the race’s finest climber.
The white jersey designates the highest-ranked rider in the overall competition age 25 or younger.
In most instances, cyclists wearing specialty jerseys like to wear them as long as they can during the race. But the colored jerseys of the Tour change often, and the anticipation of those costume changes each day helps make the Tour a race of many races.”

OK the above is the official colored jersey…Now for the unofficial (MY) colored jerseys explanation and (MY) idea!

…Let me explain…

In history a color or a marking on a jersey told a person’s negative story…Remember the “Scarlet A” for women who cheated on their husbands? Or the black and white prison stripes for inmates or now the orange jumpsuits?…etc…

Well, I thought what if in life we rewarded people with a colorful jersey for doing something positive; to be worn for a day or maybe a week? It would symbolize (show the world) something very positive and strong in ones life, encouraging  a competitive atmosphere for positive behavior.

What if we gave out a colorful jersey to the spouse that was cheated on, dropped kicked to the curb but yet remained hopeful, positive and moved on to a life without involving their Ex?… What if we gave out a jersey for standing up to people who bullied other people?…What about a jersey to the politician who didn’t lie, or cheat? Or for the police who brought communities together. I know the positive action list could go on and on!

I mean why not? We give out gold stars to children for good behavior in school and at home….I think there should be something colorful and proud for adults to wear that screams I had some vacation time in Hell and please know I have learned I will never use that travel agent again!

Those who wore these colorful jerseys would represent the leaders in the human race! Maybe the shirtless (narcissistic) would get motivated to behavior nicer!

I think it could be contagious and create a kinder more gracious world….

…Well, it was just an idea!

“We are friends for life. When we’re together the years fall away. Isn’t that what matters? To have someone who can remember with you? To have someone who remembers how far you’ve come?” – judy blume

I am so very lucky…I was reminded of that quote just recently (of the friends in my life)…I am so very lucky (Blessed)!

….Today is a great day to be reminded….

The Art in Moving On!

23 Apr

Dear Readers….

I’m baaaaack! Well at least occasionally I will be.

It is amazing what a heart felt apology can do. To say out loud “but that was no excuse…I was disrespectful….I am very sorry for my behavior.” without a BUT…

Please read on…

“Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that was no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behavior.”
-Reese Witherspoon

What ended up front and in my face with Reese Witherspoons heart felt apology and full accountability (no excuses).. was a huge…WOW! In time I will never remember what she did but I will always remember what a really really good person she is. That is called truly moving on and leaving your past behind!

When you step up to the plate to take full responsibility for your unacceptable behavior and blame no one but yourself…it has miraculous healing powers for all but especially for you. It is a pure moment, an opportunity for much happiness and joy for yourself, not only in the moment but for your future!

“Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future” -Oscar Wilde

But instead…

…If your the kind of person that spins lies, blame others and has more excuses than my step-son has sneakers regarding your bad behavior then you are the kind of person who will forever live in darkness by your own doing!

“Excuses are like assho$es, they all stink” -Me

Stay safe everyone!

Dada “a state of mind” – A Tribute to “My” Bloggers!

25 Jan
 Dear Readers,

This will be my last posting. I have come great distances and you all had a hand in helping me travel to where I needed to be.  I cannot thank you enough my friends and I am humbled by your talents and generosity! As my youngest said, “Mom it’s really great that you know when to exit” One of my philosophy in life is to make grand entrances (birth), graceful exits (death)!

So it is time…

….For my last posting, a tribute to all the bloggers who have inspired me, supported me, made me laugh. For those who made me take a deeper and richer look at myself with kind words…Again for that I cannot thank you enough.

AND to my friends and family for their unconditional love and encouragement…taking the time to read my postings and comment on (blog, FB, email, text, tweeter, a call or in person)! I cannot thank you enough for being there…for me!

Saying good-bye takes me back to my on-line art course given by the MoMA that I finished up with last December.

“Dada was an international art and literary movement in major cultural centers, including New York, Zürich, Paris, Berlin, Cologne, and Hannover, between 1914 and 1924. The leading theorist in Zürich, Tristan Tzara, claimed that Dada was “a state of mind.”

Here’s another definition of Dada:

“The Dadaists channeled their revulsion at World War I into an indictment of the nationalist and materialist values that had brought it about. They were united not by a common style but by a rejection of conventions in art and thought, seeking through their unorthodox techniques, performances and provocations to shock society into self-awareness. The name Dada itself was typical of the movement’s anti-rationalism.”
-MoMA
