Think, Who Is It?

5 Sep

I’m convinced,

….there is someone you need to reach out to…

Write them today!

….It’s been what they have been waiting for, (and you)!

Think….Who is it?

Signs Accentuate The Obvious, by Martine Powers Globe Staff – The Boston Globe/May 10

12 May

I received this article from my dear friend (Nancy) who lives in Boston. She saw my post on May 5 title “I have A Question”.

Love it!

Thank you so much Nancy! And Happy Belated Mother’s Day!

So HAPPY Boston is taking action, for everyone’s safety!

‘Changing lanes? Use yah blinkah.’
STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, talking to drivers in a Boston accent

When the Massachusetts Department of Transportation chose to warn drivers about the need to signal before changing lanes, they opted for a familiar patois: the Boston accent.
New messages appeared Friday morning on the state’s electronic highway signs, reading “Changing lanes? Use yah blinkah.”
The electronic message, which will be on display through the weekend, prompted an eruption of reactions, ranging from delight to horror, on social media as motorists spotted the messages during the morning commute.
“An actual sign entering Boston reads: ‘Changing lanes? Use yah blinkah.’ I kid you not,” wrote one Twitter user. “Wicked clevah!” wrote another.
Some expressed dismay: “I’m saddened that this is real.”
Highway Administrator Frank DePaola said he was pleased with the reactions to the effort to liven up the highway signs by appealing to Bostonians in their native dialect.
“Sometimes it becomes a little bit of white noise because we just repeat [the messages], so we thought we’d change them up a little bit,” DePaola said. “By changing the message and maybe using that creative spelling, we thought we’d get people’s attention and get people talking about it.”
He was a little taken aback by some of those positive expressions appearing with mages on social media.
“We don’t encourage the taking-a-picture part,” he said. “. . . I hope they’re doing all the tweets after they get to their destination, when they’re sitting at their desks.”
There may be more where that came from. DePaola said the success of the “Pahk Yah Cah in Hahvahd Yahd” -esque one-liner leads him to believe more may come in the future.
“I’m thinking maybe we end up soliciting the public, get some suggestions from the public on that . . . to try to come up with some uniquely crafted messages,” DePaola said.
The “Use Yah Blinkah” message was prompted by a complaint submitted to Mass DOT’s online contact form by a Massachussets resident who identified himself as James and requested that the transportation agency try to discourage drivers from changing lanes willy nilly.
“Occasionally, can the [Department of ] Transportation set up their sign to remind motorists to use their directional signals when changing lanes or moving to an exit ramp?” James wrote. “For safety sake and courtesy, it would be great if people on our streets and highways would use their signals when changing lanes. I’m not sure if it is thoughtlessness or ignorance, or indifference.”
Sara Lavoie, Mass DOT spokeswoman, said the agency saw the e-mail suggestion and decided to give it a try and have fun at the same time.
So far this year, police departments across the state have given out 1,083 tickets for failure to signal before changing lanes. Last year, police gave out 4,967 tickets for that violation, and 4,359 in 2012.

Your House!

17 Jan
Dear Readers,

A college friend shared the below proverb on Facebook. I thought it was spot on and I needed to share it with you! It spoke directly to my thoughts on living in harmony. Please know living in peace and harmony is always a work in progress, it’s a journey not an event. It is our daily assignment.

So with that said….

Please read it a couple of times, it truly gets even more powerful the second time around.

Enjoy….

There is an Indian proverb that says

that everyone is a house with four rooms.
A physical, an emotional, a mental and a spiritual.
Most of us tend to live in one room most of
the time, but unless we go into every room
every day, even if only to keep it aired,
we are not a complete person.

Asklotta and staff will MIND YOUR BUSINESS today ensuring every room in my house is well lived in.

Again, it has been my pleasure to tell you what to do and what NOT to do!

Kindest regards,

Today! Always Today!

10 Jan
Dear Readers,

“I shall shape my future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man’s doing but my own. I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before me. Or I can be lost in the maze. My choice. My responsibility. Win or lose, only I hold the key to my destiny.” – Anon
-from the blog jumpforjoyphotoproject.wordpress.com

Today the sun is shinning here in Oklahoma City and where I reside in this moment in time. I am appreciative of the sunshine, I am appreciative of today’s possibilities and I am appreciative of my health! For all of this brings me tremendous amount of happiness.

As I was writing this post a dear friend called with a situation (an unknown), with lots of creative thoughts and laughter, we came up with a solution/resolution to her situation. Life just doesn’t get any better then this and I owe it all to my chosen playlist in my head! The music is sweet!

From Carol’s Corner
YOU CHOOSE
“Real optimism is aware of problems, but recognizes the solutions. Knows about difficulties but believes they can be overcome. Sees the negatives but accentuates the positives, is exposed to the worst but expects the best, has reason to complain but chooses to smile.”
~ William A Ward

My thoughts drift to tomorrow but I calmly delete that song and stay present with happiness playing even louder! Simplistic yes but less is more… a hard concept to wrap your hands around in a world where drama, complex and stupidity seems to win out.

Asklotta and staff will MIND YOUR BUSINESS today very present!

Again, it has been my pleasure to tell you what to do and what NOT to do!

“Pride, My Name is Pride” Poem by Beth Moore

4 Jan
Dear Readers,

Between Christmas and New Year’s, my silent investor and I spent a little time in Dallas visiting friends. In the morning (my favorite time of the day) we were all standing/sitting in their very beautiful kitchen (still) in pajamas, drinking coffee and talking about the up’s and down’s of our collective lives over the years.

We talked about friends that have remained friends, new friends, past friends, politics (proof we are all friends), movies, books etc. So another words we talked about life and was in that beautiful kitchen for at least a couple of hours! Life is good, it just does not get any sweeter!

We started sharing our favorite inspirations that keep us going and on track. To keep us mindful of the larger picture, to keep us humble, self-correcting and appreciative and hence filled with love and happiness. I thought it was interesting we all carried around something positive and  inspirational to pull-out on “those days” or at “those moments.”

Below is what a friend shared that morning. It is inspirational and very worthy of sharing with all of you, regardless of what you’re wearing or what you’re drinking at this given moment! Personally I think the word “Pride” can be swapped out for “Ego” But its up to you to decide.

Enjoy!

Pride – “My Name is Pride” poem by

Beth Moore

My name is Pride. I am a cheater.
I cheat you of your God-given destiny…
because you demand your own way.
I cheat you of contentment…
because you “deserve better than this.”
I cheat you of knowledge…
because you already know it all.
I cheat you of healing…
because you are too full of you to forgive.
I cheat you of holiness…
because you refuse to admit when you are wrong.
I cheat you of vision…
because you’d rather look in the mirror than out a
window.
I cheat you of genuine friendship…
because nobody’s going to know the real you.
I cheat you of love…
    because real romance demands sacrifice.
I cheat you of greatness in heaven…
because you refuse to wash another’s feet on earth.
I cheat you of God’s glory…
because I convinced you to seek your own.
My name is Pride. I am a cheater.
You like me because you think I’m always looking out
for you.
Untrue.
I’m looking to make a fool of you.
God has so much for you, I admit, but don’t worry…
If you stick with me you’ll never know.

Asklotta and staff will MIND YOUR BUSINESS today happy for my friendships and appreciative of everything they have brought to my life!

Again, it has been my pleasure to tell you what to do and what NOT to do!
