The Giver!

10 Mar

Day Light savings arrived perfectly on time this morning. Which is also code for longer days of sunlight (yippee)! But for those who are not morning people, the time change leaves them very exhausted, feeling miserable for that lost hour of sleep.

But not me! I’m a morning person, I love springing forward and the clocks! Love jumping out of bed with the delight of an earlier start to my day or at least in my head it feels that way.

Today feeling a bit happier with a little more skip in my walk,  I walked over to my neighbors for my usually Sunday morning Thing One and Thing Two entertainment time.  Of course never knowing what activities I would discover but always filled with expectations of hugs, laughter and beautiful loving insights. This morning certainly did not disappoint.

As I let myself into their backyard heading to their backdoor I noticed bear size foot prints in the over night dusting of snow. At this point I need to mention their 110 pound Great Pyrenees English Setter Mix that looks more like a Shetland pony than a dog. And by the way, who loves to greet me by leaping up into the air landing her front paws on top of my shoulders with her enormous head towering above me. As she wagged her grand tail (swinging it back and forth), creating colder wind chill tempts, I did my best to push her down… Recognizing like everything else over at my neighbors house, she is filled with love.

But I’m digressing a bit….

Upon my arrival Thing One and Thing Two greeted me with smiles and giggles as they ran off to fetch their make-believe pizza (play doh) on little toy plates. I pretended to gobble it up with enthusiasm and delight. The next food delivery they thought should be tea.

When all of a sudden….

Thing One takes off like a shot (older, taller and has the athleticism of a gold medallist) was the first to grab the tiny plastic tea cup…

Poor harmony, poor, poor harmony… it ended up in the frying pan!

Thing Too wanted to be “the giver,” feeling his second giving would be considered sloppy seconds!

Which made me remember a quote by Theodore Roosevelt (a God wink moment)…”Comparison is the thief of joy.”

Because of great parenting, Thing Two learned no matter what he gave, it was still going to be very special…..Serenity arrived perfectly on time.

….To me, it became as obvious as the nose on my face, Thing Two had begun the journey that would lead him to being a very happy adult.

Dear Readers,
I finally figured out what Hell is…it’s not for those to be damned to in death but for those who live without love, kindness and warmth in their heart. No one can possible make him or her more miserable for eternity then he or she are doing to themselves while alive on earth!
After the awful and disguising “Hell” in my backyard as the picture clearly shows of one of my employees misusing company time, I spoke to Vet with concerns of said employee.
The Vet told me Tommy was actually protecting me; I held my hand up,  “stop right there“…”Are you trying to tell me Tommy is now an unsung hero?” This revolving and disguising act of capture and kill in my backyard you’re saying is nothing more the bravery and heroisms.
He continued, possums are mean and nasty animals; you are lucky the possum didn’t kill Tommy. In a blink of an eyelash I responded, “I’ve never been that lucky!” …I need a new Vet!
Asklotta and staff will MIND YOUR BUSINESS with sweet thoughts of peace and kindness for everyone’s backyard today!
Again, it has been my pleasure to tell you what to do and what NOT to do!
Kindest regards,
President and CEO

Dear Readers,

This is Elwood; He was just promoted to CFO at CBCorp! For the time being he will continue to head up the backyard security force, along with Anthrax (mail destruction) and food poisoning prevention. Elwood has the unique ability to sniff out danger in paper/envelopes, magazines (bills) and other things that fly through our mail slot, as well as in our food. He is not only very handsome and very brave but his heart is made of sugar and gold, sweet and priceless! Now with Elwood’s new title as CFO, I’m sure he will work closely with my silent investor to ensure a reasonable budget for research and development to bring CBCorp success well in to the 21st Century.

Elwood has been known to leap through the air at the speed of light, gobbles up food in the line of duty, fearing no consequences and/or thought to his own well-being! At no extra expense and without a complaint, he eats candy left in bedrooms as well as lacrosse balls and hockey equipment.  He has been known to remove such said items from any/all floors of the corporation, beds, bookshelves, and desks, (anywhere really) there are no off limits to his tireless search!  He runs from one end of the backyard to the other, as well as to the mailbox securing all perimeters!  Terrorist that fly, buzz, hop, jump, crawl and (our postal delivery) run scared.

Elwood’s dedication to his Yoga practice is to be admired. He begins every single morning with a downward facing dog, flows in to the sun salutation as he greets his day full of hope, promise and energy.  Throughout his day Elwood continues his practice and can be seen in further yoga poses (Virasana: “A hero stance”) to maintain his center and balance with mindful actions, which is constantly being tested by CBCorps’ other two employees.

Elwood ends his day with Shavasana (the corpse pose) relaxing his mind achieving serenity with (all of) his day’s accomplishments.  He is most satisfied with his thoughts; he has made the world a little better/safer for all his loving contributions to CBCorp and society as a whole.

Elwood loves to MIND YOUR BUSINESS especially at mealtime!

We send a shout out to my son for seeing Elwood’s full potential that no one else did…Elwood is the structural foundation for all of our today’s success as well as our promising future!  If it wasn’t for Elwood, CBCorp would be just another non-profit with “un-chewed” mail and hockey equipment (Less loving, less humble, lacking in meaningful direction and most definitely void of humor!)

Happy Friday and stay safe!

Again, it has been my pleasure to tell you what to do and what NOT to do!

Kindest regards,

President and CEO
