“Pride, My Name is Pride” Poem by Beth Moore

4 Jan
Dear Readers,

Between Christmas and New Year’s, my silent investor and I spent a little time in Dallas visiting friends. In the morning (my favorite time of the day) we were all standing/sitting in their very beautiful kitchen (still) in pajamas, drinking coffee and talking about the up’s and down’s of our collective lives over the years.

We talked about friends that have remained friends, new friends, past friends, politics (proof we are all friends), movies, books etc. So another words we talked about life and was in that beautiful kitchen for at least a couple of hours! Life is good, it just does not get any sweeter!

We started sharing our favorite inspirations that keep us going and on track. To keep us mindful of the larger picture, to keep us humble, self-correcting and appreciative and hence filled with love and happiness. I thought it was interesting we all carried around something positive and  inspirational to pull-out on “those days” or at “those moments.”

Below is what a friend shared that morning. It is inspirational and very worthy of sharing with all of you, regardless of what you’re wearing or what you’re drinking at this given moment! Personally I think the word “Pride” can be swapped out for “Ego” But its up to you to decide.

Enjoy!

Pride – “My Name is Pride” poem by

Beth Moore

My name is Pride. I am a cheater.
I cheat you of your God-given destiny…
because you demand your own way.
I cheat you of contentment…
because you “deserve better than this.”
I cheat you of knowledge…
because you already know it all.
I cheat you of healing…
because you are too full of you to forgive.
I cheat you of holiness…
because you refuse to admit when you are wrong.
I cheat you of vision…
because you’d rather look in the mirror than out a
window.
I cheat you of genuine friendship…
because nobody’s going to know the real you.
I cheat you of love…
    because real romance demands sacrifice.
I cheat you of greatness in heaven…
because you refuse to wash another’s feet on earth.
I cheat you of God’s glory…
because I convinced you to seek your own.
My name is Pride. I am a cheater.
You like me because you think I’m always looking out
for you.
Untrue.
I’m looking to make a fool of you.
God has so much for you, I admit, but don’t worry…
If you stick with me you’ll never know.

Asklotta and staff will MIND YOUR BUSINESS today happy for my friendships and appreciative of everything they have brought to my life!

Again, it has been my pleasure to tell you what to do and what NOT to do!

Kindest regards,
