When People Don’t Do Their “Duty”

26 Jun
Dear Readers,

This story is hilarious and yet it reeks (no pun intended) of brutal truth of the world we live in, well at least to me it does.

USA Today, Tuesday, June 12

“DNA test links the dog to its doo”

Montgomery, Ala – “Property managers across the nation are turning to a CSI strategy to battle dog poo. They’re using DNA technology to match which canine is responsible for leaving the piles so their owners can face fines.” A Montgomery apartment community (Legends at Taylor Lakes) was sent letters a new technology was going to be used and along with a fine of $150…”The problem of owners not cleaning up after their dogs just disappeared.”

This technology is amazing and who would have thought to start up such a business but apparently it is booming! “The results won’t come back as showing a beagle left the pile of waste,…it will be the beagle in Apartment 3A left the waste.”

Please tolerant me a little bit longer for there is a point to this mess (just can’t help myself.)  A friend recently posted on her Facebook page, “The difference between Adults and Grown-ups” by Dr. Lisa Demour.
“Dr. Lisa Demour is Director of the Center for Research on Girls at Laurel School in Shaker Heights, Ohio…”

“The difference between Adults and Grown-ups”

“People who are merely adults, who haven’t really grown up, assess risk in terms of the chances of getting caught engaging in risky behavior,” she says. “In contrast, people who are really grown up assess risk… in terms of the actual consequences of the behavior they’re considering.”

The adult sees a 25 m.p.h. speed limit sign and wonders if the cops are around. The grown-up sees the same speed limit sign and slows down, knowing that there’s probably a reason –children playing, perhaps, or a curve ahead. The trick to parenting is in helping young people become grown-ups, capable of imagining consequences, rather than adults who have merely aged into adulthood. But how do you do that?

The sad and brutal truth is there are far too many “adults” and far fewer “grown-ups” in the world. The adults of the world, just do what they want to do, when they want to do it, unless of course costly consequences are enforced and imposed to get them to do the responsible and respectful action/behavior. They go through life trying to get away with as much as possible. I have also discovered those “adults” also suffer from the lack of embarrassment DNA and suffer from a full-blown case of arrogance!

AND with that said, Asklotta and Staff is MINDING YOUR BUSINESS today with a doggie poo bag in one hand and firmly planted (as always) in the “grown-up” world!

Again, it has been my pleasure to tell you what to do and what NOT to do!

Kindest regards,

Asklotta
