Dear Readers,

In the past several weeks I have been reading a blog called “Where’smytbackandotherstories” and I want to turn you all on to this blog as well. The writer is a doctor  based (I think) in Sidney, Australia, who works with Alzheimer patients. Her blogs are highly entertaining, exquisitely written and seasoned with kindness, beauty and respect.  She understands all too well the dark places life can take her patients, yet simultaneously shares life’s beauty through her wonderful sense of humor and appreciation for everything positive life has to hold.
Her post, “His Name Was Alex” was the one that roped me in to being a loyal reader.  And in one of my favorites, “And How Old Do You Think Is The Left Knee?” (http://wp.me/p2cyAK-wY)  she wants the reader (you) to answer a very interesting (funny) question that a patient asked after hearing her diagnosis.
Her magnificent pictures of Singapore during one of her trips gave me a wanderlust, desiring to travel to the other side of the world to experience the beauty and the joy of Singapore she so generously shared through her blog! What’s most amazing about this is that I truly hate, hate, hate and oh did I mention hate long marathon plane rides (being trapped up in the air for hours on end), along with huge time changes, that are so very difficult for me to rebound from. She makes meeting a stranger on a train thrilling. I now look forward to my “New Mail” to read one of her postings. Her posts on her blog are thought provoking, entertaining and filled with adventure…they have added a more interesting texture to my life, as WE MIND YOUR BUSINESS, I know they will add something positive to your life as well….enjoy!

She writes:

“This blog is dedicated to patients and family members who encounter Alzheimer’s Disease which is the most common dementia but just as vicious, tedious and tormenting as the other dementia. It is never easy. I have seen many family members with dementia cry before me (that is why there’s always a tissue box on top of my office table), squabble in front of me, call me up in the middle of the night crying. There have been instances too where I come up diagnosing a patient with dementia and the family member caregiver (often unpaid) with depression. Yeah, it’s that depressing.  Even I, despite my often misunderstood steely demeanor, sometimes cry, even weep with them. It brings out the worst in you. It brings out the best in you. And yes, I get to laugh with them too.To many, the prospect of Alzheimer’s Disease is scary. It is. But it does not have to be. The key is recognizing the disease early.
And while there is no eraser for aging and dementia, there are drugs to retard its progression. And a daily dose of humor doesn’t hurt!
This blog is also for those of  us who are confronted with aging issues – aging parents, aging co-worker, aging spouse,  aging body, aging world.
All these will unfold as the blog evolves.

And I hope we  will all be in this together (perpetuating the blog Sweetie, not the Alzheimer’s Disease and aging, LOL)”

Again, it has been my pleasure to tell you what to do and what NOT to do!

Kindest regards,

President and CEO

Now I know what you mean.

Thank you so much! I am so moved. You have to help me stop the tears welling in my eyes from falling. I am, believe it or not, from the Philippines but I understand the confusion in geo-tagging as I move around a lot. Now I am asking your permission for me to re-blog this because it is not everyday that a company President and CEO would bestow on me this kind of honor
Again, I am thrilled I just have to gloat!
In this little corner in the Southeast we say ‘Maraming salamat!’ (Thank you very much)!

Eva, It would be an honor for you to reblog. Your postings take me all around the world, which is a huge treat, because I am just a simple middle aged woman living in Ohio. The places you travel, and the people you encounter brings the world to my simple life…Your postings are thought provoking…Selfishly I ask, please keep writing! Stay safe!…Lotta
